- Your teeth also change colour naturally with age. Over time the hard outer layer of enamel gets thinner, showing through more of the softer inner layer (dentine), which is yellows with age.
Teeth whitening can be a very effective way to lighten the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It cannot completely change the colour but will lighten the existing shade.
To whiten your teeth, we either take an impression or a scan of your teeth, which is used to make a custom-fitted whitening tray. You put the gel in the trays and wear them on your teeth each day. Some patients find their teeth can be slightly more sensitive during treatment. We recommend using a sensitive toothpaste during treatment.
